CAD Technician

Job Description:   

Assist the CAD/BIM Manager with 2D CAD and document control in our Colchester Office.  

You will be producing and interpreting plans and drawings to help deliver projects and services to our diverse clients whilst following internal procedures and maintaining high standards.  

Duties & Responsibilities

As a CAD Technician your duties will include:  

• Production of coordinated 2D drawings in AutoCAD 

• Working with Design Engineers in drawing production 

• Deliver drawings in line with project BIM requirements and conjunction with company CAD/BIM standards 

• Produce co-ordinated drawings and schematics for Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health services using AutoCAD 

• Assist in maintaining CAD & BIM standards.  

• Complying with our Quality Management System in production and checking of drawings  

Document Control

We are rigorous in our control of documents.  You will assist in maintaining this approach and tasks will include  

• Coordinating document control  

• Assisting with document control on selected projects  

• Maintaining quality standards for our products  

• Accurately recording and saving copies of issued deliverables  

• General office administrative duties  

This list is not exhaustive, and we would expect the successful candidate to be willing to undertake adhoc duties in supporting other members of the office when necessary.  

Qualifications/ Skills

• Minimum 2 years’ experience with AutoCAD 

• Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD  

• Working knowledge of industry standards such as PAS119-2, 3, 4, 5, BS1192:2007 & ISO 19650 

• Proven hands-on and demonstrable experience in a similar role  

• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook 

• Proficient and accurate typing  

• Ability to interrogate Architectural and Structural information 

• Embedding and structuring data so it can be used as part of the BIM process 

• Creating/Amending families, blocks as required to suit project requirements 

• Excellent team working and interpersonal skills  

• Ability to multi-task and adhere to strict deadlines  

• Dealing competently with diverse enquiries and people  

• Dealing tactfully and diplomatically with confidential information  

• Good numeracy and literacy  

• Excellent communication with a professional phone manner
