AWA were appointed to provide Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health design consultancy
services for the expansion of Belfairs Academy in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex.
This included both the remodelling of areas in the existing school building, and the construction of a
new three storey teaching block.
Phase 1 was to provide new heating, ventilation, small power and lighting services to nine newly created classrooms within the existing building, and also extend M&E services to serve extensions to both the main assembly hall and dining hall.
General teaching classrooms were also converted into science laboratories complete with new gas services,
hot & cold water services, drainage, general power and lighting. Small power and data services were provided to the classrooms, and the lighting design complemented the new spaces and mixed mode/heat recovery ventilation systems making them both bright, airy, and pleasant places to study
