46 Ponton Road, Nine Elms - Revit

AWA have recently completed our Mechanical & Electrical services design pack for this prestigious residential scheme on behalf of Bellway Homes. The project consists of 3No. blocks each split into 2 cores and is complete with an Energy Centre, Gym, Concierge and Retail Units. The nearby Embassy Quarter district heating scheme has been utilised for Primary heating and Hot Water. As well as the incoming utility services and the foul/surface water drainage, all M&E services between the blocks were distributed below the ground floor slab.

Due the complexity of these services, AWA modelled all below ground services in Revit to ensure that there were no clashes and all ducts/pipes were coordinated. The Revit model produced was the most complicated we have produced but has provided the Client an efficient way to minimise disruption on site and time wasted resolving clashes. AWA have also used Revit to draw the Above Ground Drainage, all M&E risers, Energy centre and communal service corridor layouts.

The use of Revit and BIM on Commercial and Public Sector projects is becoming more common place in the Building Services industry but its use on residential schemes is still a rare occurrence. AWA have been using Revit on Residential schemes for the past 3 years and have found it invaluable on projects with Energy Centres or complex services distribution. AWA model all Above Ground Drainage layouts in Revit for coordination purposes with the Architect & Structural Engineer. We firmly believe that the use of Revit on residential schemes provides the Client with a design that is fully coordinated, risk reduced collaboration. Our CAD specialists are able to distribute 3D navigable models that allow the project team to review design issues in a flexible and more efficient `virtual’ world and can then be passed onto the M&E Contractors without installation concerns.
