Robert Heppleston

Associate Mechanical Engineer

Robert currently enjoys an Associate Mechanical Engineer role at AWA and is used to  leading projects from inception to completion.

Robert has design expertise in multiple sectors and is driven to deliver projects on time and within budget to clients. Robert plays a key role in implementing company QA procedures, integrating current technical design standards and continuing a technical support role to team members.

Professional Credentials

Education & Background

  • Robert followed a path of part-time study starting in 2003 to graduate from Anglian Ruskin University with BSc (Hons). 


  • Robert continued his part-time studies at London Southbank University to complete a Master’s degree (MSc) by 2012.


  • Robert has been a member of CIBSE since 2015 and is currently working towards full CIBSE member (MCIBSE) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status by following the approved academic route.

Professional Experience

  • Robert joined Troup Bywaters and Anders (TB+A) in 2001 as a CAD technician. Robert completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies whilst working for TB+A and was developed into a mechanical engineer by the management team.  During his time at the company Robert worked on commercial office, education facilities and healthcare design for well-known national clients.


  • Robert joined AWA in 2015 as a Mechanical Engineer and has been twice promoted to Senior Engineer in 2016 and then to his current Associate Engineer role in 2019 working on a mix of large scale residential and commercial projects.


  • During his 20+ year career in building services consultancy work Robert has developed significant technical design expertise applicable to both the residential and commercial sectors.

Hobbies & Interests

  • Robert enjoys an active life away from work and enjoys family days out and camping holidays.

  • Roberts sporting interests include football, hiking and running, completing a half marathon event in 2022.
